“Physician, heal thyself”: how surgeon Alexander Malko came to MasterPlus
Alexander Viktorovych Malko is a practising surgeon. He describes himself simply: “I am an ordinary doctor working in an ordinary hospital.” At 14 he injured his spine, damaging the ninth vertebra. By the age of thirty the consequences of that injury were joined by migraines, a numb back and shooting pains in his legs.
A job that wears out your back
Surgery means hours in an awkward position. Your back and neck feel like lead, but there is a scalpel in your hand and someone’s life in your head. Dr Malko remembers department heads collapsing in the operating room from shooting pain in their legs. He had three such episodes in one year himself; pills and injections no longer helped, and senior colleagues advised him to give up work and apply for disability. At thirty.
Forty minutes that changed everything
At that time a friend of his opened a wellness centre with massage equipment in Kharkiv and talked about it with great enthusiasm. “We doctors are always sceptics,” Alexander writes. “I had not laughed so much in a long time as after that story about ‘miracle equipment’.” But one day his friend brought him to the centre and asked him to wait. After forty minutes on the equipment, the doctor knew: he would not give up his work, and he would not let anyone operate on his spine.
From visitor to researcher
He bought a set of equipment for daily use at home and started going to the library, gathering piece by piece the knowledge medical school had not given him. That is how the book about warmth from bioceramics, spinal decompression and caring for your body without unnecessary pills came about.
Today Dr Malko has been lecturing at centres around the world for 17 years. He says he works more than before, copes easily with heavy workloads and has long forgotten about headaches and shooting pains.
The main idea
The book opens with a phrase worth remembering: “Nobody needs your health except you.” Not because doctors are unnecessary, but because daily care for your own body is your own responsibility. MasterPlus was created exactly for that daily care.
Based on Alexander Malko’s book “Be Healthy with MasterPlus”. For information only; it does not replace medical advice.
