A muscle spasm is an involuntary, prolonged contraction of a muscle that cannot relax on its own. The causes are familiar to everyone: long hours at a computer, an awkward position, stress, overload, a draught or a sudden movement.

What spasm leads to

When muscles stay tense for a long time, the author says, it affects more than just the back:

  • circulation in the tense area gets worse;
  • mobility becomes limited and everyday movements get harder;
  • slouching and an asymmetrical back appear;
  • intervertebral discs suffer from the pressure of tense muscles;
  • overall well-being and sleep quality decline.

How MasterPlus helps muscles relax

Dr Malko highlights three factors that work together:

  1. Deep infrared warmth. The bioceramic “domes” of the device warm the muscles deeply, vessels widen and muscles receive more oxygen and nutrients.
  2. Optimal ceramic density. The warmth reaches the deep muscle layers along the spine that ordinary massage can hardly reach.
  3. Your own body weight. You simply lie on the device — the pressure is soft and controlled, with no risk of “pressing too hard”, as can sometimes happen with a massage therapist.

Why regularity matters

One session relieves tension “here and now”. But if spasm has built up over years, muscles need time to “relearn” how to stay relaxed. That is why the author recommends using MasterPlus every day, ideally in the evening before bed — then muscles stay relaxed longer and the risk of new spasms goes down.
